Directions

Following are some directions that you might find useful related to the wedding. We’ve included directions for getting around by car or by public transport, but of course there are other options as well (e.g., cab). Directions for the following routes are included below:

From the Airport (PDX) to Downtown

From Downtown to the Ceremony

From the Ceremony to the Reception

Mt Tabor Park

The ceremony is at Mt Tabor, and the reception is at Bridgeport Brewing. Click here for a map of Portland that shows these locations, as well as some other key locations (our house, the airport).

The wedding reception is at a brewery, which serves tasty yet strong beers. Please don’t drink and drive! The brewery is close to downtown, so we recommend leaving your car at your hotel (if you have a car, that is) and taking a cab back to your hotel so you don’t have to worry about that.

Here are some popular cab companies in Portland. Keep these handy when you’re in town, if you’d like to go by cab:

Broadway Cab 503-227-1234

Radio Cab 503-227-1212

And here are some key directions:

From the Airport (PDX) to Downtown

By Car:

Head east out of the airport on NE Airport Way.

After two miles, take I-205 South to Portland / Salem.

After three miles, take I-84 west to Portland.

After five miles, stay in the center lane and take a left hand exit to I-5 south.

After ½ mile, take the first right and cross the river into downtown via the Morrison Bridge.

By public transport:

Head to the south end of the baggage area (take a right at the bottom of the escalators). Buy a ticket at one of the kiosks to ride the light rail train from the airport to downtown Portland (a 2-hour all-zone ticket, $2.30). Buy the ticket before you get on the train, then get on the MAX Red Line light rail train. Don’t take the blue line train by mistake! Red line is the way to go.

The train takes about 40 minutes from the airport to downtown. Right before entering downtown, the train crosses the river (you can’t miss it). It stops at many places in downtown Portland. Ask somebody on the train about the best stop for your destination. Seriously – we’re a friendly bunch here in Portland.

From Downtown to the Ceremony (ceremony begins at 5 pm)

The ceremony is located about four miles east of downtown.

By car:

Find SW Alder street downtown. Head east on this road and cross the river on the Morrison Bridge.

Continue east on SE Belmont (don’t get on I-5!).

After four miles on SE Belmont, turn right on SE 69th Ave. You’ll enter Mt Tabor after 1-1/2 blocks.

The trip takes about 20 minutes by car. Be sure to leave plenty of time for parking and the short (10 min) walk to the top of Mt Tabor! See the map below for parking options in Mt Tabor Park.

By public transport:

Make your way to the intersection of SW 5th and SW Salmon street, and wait for the #15 bus at the bus stop across the street from the Happy Bowl restaurant. The bus will arrive to pick you up at 4:03 pm. Fare is $2. Keep your receipt, as it can be used for the ride back to the reception!

The bus will head east on SE Belmont. Tell the bus driver that you’d like to get off at Mt Tabor (SE 69th & Yamhill). After getting off the bus at 4:28 pm, walk south to the entrance of Mt Tabor, and continue walking to the top (about a five minute walk up a lot of steps).

From the Ceremony to the Reception (doors open at 6 pm)

The reception is located just north of downtown.

By car:

Continue back to downtown the same way you came, heading west on SE Belmont. The street will turn from two-way to one-way about two miles from the park (you’ll take a quick right and a quick left by the big cemetery). Continue west and cross the Morrison bridge into downtown.

After crossing the bridge, continue west on SW Washington St. After about one mile, turn right (north) on SW 10th Ave.

After about one mile, turn left (west) at NW Marshall. The reception is at Bridgeport Brewing, 1313 NW Marshall. There is on-street parking, or you can use a public parking garage between NW Lovejoy and NW Marshall streets on NW 14th Ave (am not sure of the cost).

By public transport:

Head back down the hill, and catch the #15 to downtown. The stop is just across the street from where you got off earlier. If you kept your receipt, show the driver and ride for free. If you lost it, the fare is $2.

Cross the river on the #15, and gett off at the intersection of SW 9th Avenue and SW Washington. Walk one block west (the same direction as you were headed on the bus) until you get to the tracks, turn right, and walk half a block north to the streetcar stop.

Get on the next streetcar that comes (keep your receipt from the bus ride!), and take it to the stop at the intersection of NW Northrup and NW 14th. Get off, and walk one block south (left). The reception is at Bridgeport Brewing, 1313 NW Marshall.

Mt Tabor Park

Here’s a map of Mt Tabor, which shows parking options and the route to the ceremony. The ceremony is at the top. Basically, keep going up and look for a group of really good looking people. 🙂 Click on the map to open a larger view, suitable for printing.
